Iran and Indonesia started a new round of talks, here in Tehran, on electricity and energy on Wednesday which was attended by Iranian Minister of Energy Hamid Chitchian and his Indonesian counterpart Sudirman Said.
During the meeting, Chitchian said that Iran and Indonesia are two Muslim and brother countries and enjoy long-lasting relations; however the ties shrunk due to different global issues during the past few years but now we can talk about developing them again.
“Iran is ready to enhance cooperation with Indonesia in the field of energy and will warmly welcome boosting bilateral ties”, he noted.
Sudirman Said, for his part, said that his trip was made for developing relations and negotiating about the energy sector; an issue which is a key strategy for the Indonesian nation and government leading towards economic development. Despite the shortages, Indonesia has potentials to produce fossil and renewable energies such as solar, wind and geothermal energy.
The Indonesian official announced that the Indonesian President Joko Widodo is due to visit Tehran soon.
Said invited Iran to cooperate in Indonesia’s energy sector and added “Iran has taken great steps in the field of renewable energies and Indonesia is keen to cooperate with Iran in the field of hydro-electric power plants.”
